Player Manager

Faringdon, SN7 8PT
Player Manager

We're opening Oxfordshire’s first indoor site at St Hugh's School in Faringdon, with courts ready to play in October. We need a Player Manager to lead it from the court and build the club community from day one. This is a role for someone who plays a proper standard of padel, loves being on court with members, and wants to turn the quiet hours of the week into the busy ones.

About Padel People

Padel People run premium padel venues across the UK. We're growing fast and we build sites around great players and great community. St Hugh's is one of our newest, three covered doubles courts plus a singles court in the grounds of a well-known independent school, and the person we hire will shape how it plays from the very start.

The role

You're the face of the club on court. Your job is to get people playing, keep them coming back, and fill the off-peak hours that most venues leave empty. You'll coach, play, run sessions, and build a regular base of members who come because of you. As this is a brand new site, you'll have a real hand in setting the culture and the programme.

What you'll do

• Coach and play with members across all levels, from first-timers to competitive players

• Run clinics, social sessions, leagues and animation events that bring people in

• Drive bookings in off-peak hours (weekday daytimes) and turn quiet courts into full ones

• Be the welcoming, recognisable presence that members associate with the club

• Help launch and run the new site so the playing experience is first class from opening day

Who we're looking for

• A strong padel player. This is non-negotiable, members will play with and learn from you, so you need to hold a genuine standard on court

• Naturally good with people: warm, energetic, and able to make anyone feel welcome

• Self-motivated and commercially minded, you understand that filling quiet hours is the job

• Reliable and organised enough to launch and run a site, not just coach on it

• Coaching qualifications are a plus, but playing ability and people skills matter more

Package

• £30,000 base salary

• Plus a share of off-peak revenue, the more you fill the quiet hours, the more you earn, plus 1-1 private coaching.

• 28 days holiday including bank holidays

• Workplace pension

• Free court access and a genuine say in how the St Hugh's site is run

Real upside here: this is base pay plus a direct cut of the revenue you generate in off-peak hours. Good players who build a following do very well.
