As we approach the end of a fine summer in the UK I have heard a lot of contradicting statements about what part of the year is prime time for playing padel.
The bulk of the football season takes place in the colder months, the bulk of the cricket and tennis season during the summer etc. So when is best to play padel for the majority of its players?
'Now that the weather is changing to colder and darker evenings and seasons in sports such as golf, cricket etc all coming to an end that now is time to ramp up their Padel playing time taking advantage of all the new indoor and covered courts.'
Then I have also heard..
'Padel is a summer social sport. Something you play with family and friends in the sunshine and the appeal of playing in enclosed spaces for a few is not as appealing so Padel is 'packed away' until the sun reappears or a holiday is booked.'
So its got me thinking - will Padel, in time, naturally fit into one of these categories?
For me personally it is most certainly an all year round sport. I love the variation of playing indoor, outdoor and in covered courts and how the game adapts to each. I also appreciate the ability to always have the option to play indoors or outdoors depending on the weather. It is something that is not always guaranteed in other sports and coming from a football background, I am so grateful to play a sport indoors during the winter months!
Really keen to hear your thoughts on this below. I imagine they are varied!
Ben - Average Padel player from Bristol. Always keen for game!
