Energising Padel venues

Liam Barrett, Partner Channel BDM

We’re The Padel Directory’s official Utilities partner, and we couldn’t be prouder to work with such a fast-growing and dynamic organisation. It’s great to see so many people taking up Padel – including many of our employees - and the community seems to be going from strength to strength.

How do we support the Padel community?

We’re focused on helping Padel clubs to manage their energy, waste, water, and communications more efficiently. Energy and utilities can be complex with lots of confusing acronyms, phrases, and a multitude of differing contract and tariff options. We help to simplify the market so Padel clubs can make informed decisions based on clear insights and recommendations. In practice, that could be helping to identify the right supply contract for your club and managing the switch from one energy supplier to another. Alternatively, supporting how certain energy or waste legislation impacts a club, for instance, Simpler Recycling or Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs), and what strategies can be put in place to ensure full compliance.

How much energy does a Padel club use?

A Padel club's energy usage can vary from club to club. Larger purpose-built venues could be spending hundreds of thousands of pounds per year on their energy bills. In contrast, smaller venues with fewer facilities on site may consume much less, similar to a large domestic property.

What would be your top three tips for Padel clubs when it comes to their Utilities?

1. Get organised and take control of all your utility needs – understand your meters, usage, current suppliers, contract end dates, and contract options. Seek the advice of a consultancy like ours if you’re too busy.

2. Ensure you are not on out-of-contract energy rates, as these can be very costly to your business.

3. Don’t neglect waste, water or communications as there is potential to save if you’re savvy.
